We are thrilled to announce that San Diego’s Poet Laureate, Jason Magabo Perez, will join us as both a guest studio artist and guest performer on June 10th! A longtime fan of Space 4 Art, Jason is passionate about using his post as Poet Laureate to demystify poetry and help everyday people access the tools to express themselves through poetry.
In that spirit, he will create a pop-up Poetry Lab in one of our open spaces where guests may mingle with him, watch him composing in action, collaborate with him if they're so moved, and explore his other works on display.
At 6:30 pm, Jason will also be our featured performer. Other S4A musicians will also perform on the following schedule:
5:00 pm - Six/Eight (Indie Rock band)
5:30 pm - Jonathan Piper
6:00 pm - Ariana & Chris Warren
6:30 pm - Jason Magabo Perez (poetry)
7:00 pm - Drummers Without Borders
We’ll serve delicious empanadas from Empanada Kitchen, as well as a variety of drinks at our concession table. (We accept credit, cash or Venmo.)
UPDATED 11:30 am, 6/10: Oh no! The Ice Cream Truck broke down this morning. We will do our best to offer some sort of ice cream treats at the concession table instead.
S4A Open Studios are always free to the public, but we encourage RSVPs for logistical planning and so we have enough concessions on hand.

Location
Our address is 340 16th Street. The entrance to Space 4 Art is located on 16th St, near J St, directly across from Goodwill. A staff member will be posted at the gate to let you in. Rideshare or public transportation is encouraged—our closest bus stop is located at Market & 16th (Routes 3,5).

Accessibility
Our warehouse studios are wheelchair accessible via our 16th Street entrance. Our live/work area can only be accessed via a flight of stairs. Please call the office if you need assistance.
